The All-Star break brings back memories like Ken Griffey Jr.’s sweet swing blasting homers in the derby in his classic backward hat or Barry Bonds playfully picking up Torii Hunter after he robbed him or even Pete Rose running over Ray Fosse or possibly even more infamously the 2002 edition ending in a tie. However, now fans might most remember the All-Star break as the day their team drafted the player that changed their franchise forever.
The 2023 MLB Draft will take place in Seattle beginning on Sunday, July 9th. The Pittsburgh Pirates will have their pick of the very talented litter after they won the lottery. Anybody who watched the College World Series saw arguably the three best players of this year’s class. LSU’s Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews and Florida’s Wyatt Langford jumped off the screen and unsurprisingly will come off the board immediately. A pair of left-handed hitting outfielders, one a speedy centerfielder (Max Clark), the other a slugger (Walker Jenkins), leads the class of prep prospects.
